During the development process we created multiple prototypes and models.  

The OEM system has a small opening and uses a standard panel filter with a small cross sectional area with a simple tube. 

We decided to create a system which followed the same path but with significantly enlarged air opening, add our signature large venturi tube mating to a vastly larger volume airbox. Doubling the cross sectional area of the front inlet feed giving more a more than adequate increase on available air

After some iterations this method gave the best air flow under CFD analysis showing less turbulence than the OEM system with vastly increased airflow. 

The results on both the dyno (see below) and road driving were excellent.  Vastly improved throttle response, low end torque response improvements Under normal but spirited driving the engine feels even more eager to accelerate at every rpm whether under partial load or full load.

Intake temperatures are lowered and remain lower more consistently which in turn allows the engine to not just improve it's power output but remain more powerful under hard driving.

In addition to the intake system we have also developed a stand alone turbo inlet tube which increases volume and has a smoother radius into the turbo reducing turbulence.

High Flow Air Filters & Intake Temperatures

Our bespoke short stack high surface area filter larger than any cone filter design currently on offer on the market with a huge opening of 170mm (6 3/4") and is designed to take full advantage of the intake tubes by altering the direction of the airflow towards the outer walls.  By placing the air filters in front of the inlet tube we achieve the largest velocity stack.

PERFORMANCE TESTING

Dyno tests were performed under strict controlled conditions on an independent Maha MSR500 dynamometer in order to show a true and realistic result. 

The stock car made almost exactly what the manufacturer quotes with 330 BHP with a perfect and natural power curve.

After fitting our intake system  347 BHP  was achieved.

A significant and clear gains of 17 BHP.

From 2500-7000rpm the torque and power increases consistently through the rpm range

At 5500rpm the engine gains significant HP and torque.

Run down losses remains identical between the two tests as did the ambient temperature.

Both sets of tests were carried out with identical starting oil and coolant temperatures. Dyno Line Key:

Tegiwa Performance Test

The Infinity Design FL5 intake (without turbo inlet) was independently tested against the competition by Tegiwa with their Maha dyno.

Our intake was initially tested incorrectly during the test as the hood / bonnet seal was not installed which lead to high intake temperatures but still gave the most midrange torque. It was then retested against the winner of the test on day 1 (gruppeM) and gained more power again showing that our large volume, largest filter and venturi tube generates the best power and torque.
